At the CAPT Velden last week, the Casino Velden team proved that Velden also has the potential to become a poker stronghold outside of the European Poker Championship in July.
For the season opening from April 27 to May 1, not only were the restaurants and hotels in Velden packed to capacity, but the casino itself was buzzing as well. Over 200 Austrian and international poker players looked forward to exciting rounds of poker in eight tournaments. They also enjoyed the dreamy weather, beautiful Lake Wörthersee as well as Velden’s nightlife to the fullest.
Tassilo Vogel from Germany prevailed in the Main Event with a buy-in of 500 euros + 50 euros at the final table, and he took home the biggest prize of the CAPT: 20,520 euros.
“There can be no CAPT without a Pot Limit Omaha tournament,” says poker manager Jasmin Michael. Christian Hanschirik from Hungary was the winner and took home 5,920 euros.
The lucky winners of the other tournaments also received trophies. The NLH Opening Event went to Wolfgang Unterlerchner with 130 euros + 20 euros buy-in and the winner’s prize of 4,707 euros.
The NLH Bounty, a side event at the opening, was won by Franz Obermayer who received 2,165 Euros according to the agreed deal. The Deepstack Turbo tournament with 300 euros + 30 euros buy-in on Sunday was won by Michael Schmalnauer. In this side event, he took home 3,775 euros.
Gerhard Schober secured the final trophy on Crazy Monday with a 100 euros + 20 euros buy-in and received 2,000 euros as the winner’s prize.
Poker manager Jasmin Michael was particularly happy about the excellent atmosphere: “Poker is also about people spending time together and having fun, and of course that applies to our guests as much as it does to our staff.”
Casinos Austria poker manager Thomas Lamatsch is impressed by Velden as a poker destination: “This is just the beginning, Casino Velden has a great deal of potential and is a particularly vibrant attraction for poker players. I look forward to seeing the CAPT Velden project develop in the coming years.”
The next poker highlight in Velden is just around the corner: from July 18 to 30, the poker elite will once again gather at Lake Wörthersee for the European Poker Championship, under the motto “Summer, sun, and poker fun”. Information on the tournament calendar can be found at velden.casinos.at
The CAPT Velden is also firmly fixed in the Casinos Austria tournament calendar for the start of the 2024 season.
