On January 20, “Our Commitment to Austria” was honoured with the European Casino Award in the “Corporate Community Engagement” category at the international gaming trade fair ICE in Barcelona in recognition of its outstanding social commitment to the domestic market.45 partners, 73 sponsorships, 58 deployments of the “Casino on Tour” mobile casino and more than 1,000 hours worked in 61 corporate volunteering programmes: the achievements have been adding up since the start of the project in autumn of 2023, which allowed Casinos Austria to persuade an international jury of experts.
“Casinos Austria has been committed to socially relevant issues in Austria for over 55 years. With their offerings, the twelve casinos bring added value to the respective region and contribute to value creation to an extent that goes far beyond their own turnover – with ‘Our commitment to Austria’, we are significantly enhancing this commitment. We help organisations that perform important social functions in the region while having to make do with limited resources. As leading tourism businesses, casinos are social drivers whose actions have a tangible impact in the regions. The award also proves that we are once again sending out a strong signal for the entire gaming industry,” Director General Erwin van Lambaart explains.
Regional focus with social benefits
Casinos Austria has taken its social commitment to a new level with the “Our Commitment to Austria” initiative launched in September of 2023. All twelve Casinos Austria casinos are involved, with the focus on social projects in the immediate vicinity of the individual locations. The casinos and their employees provide support in a number of ways: the partners receive financial support through sponsorship contributions and donations from the “Casino on Tour” mobile casino. As another fixed pillar, casino employees become active themselves as part of corporate volunteering programmes and lend a hand wherever active help is needed.
Local organisations such as Austrian Cancer Aid, Lebenshilfe Austria, the Mountain Rescue Service and numerous integration projects are supported. The commitment will be continued in 2025 and supplemented by a partner operating throughout Austria.
“After the ‘2023 Best Marketing Programme’ and the ‘2024 Best Multiple Casino Operator’, we are now very proud to have received the ‘2025 Corporate Community Engagement Award’. It is the international recognition of our multifaceted endeavours in and for Austria, which go far beyond our original business activities. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our colleagues and our numerous local partners who have put their heart and passion into bringing the initiative to life, thus making a personal and significant contribution to society,” says Managing Director Thomas Lichtblau.
European Casino Award
Every year, the European Casino Awards recognise the best achievements in the European casino industry. The awards are presented at the ICE International Gaming Exhibition. The submissions in various categories are professionally curated, and an independent jury of industry experts reviews and selects the winners.
